Zusammenfassung

Die Wirtschaftspolitik in Brasilien unterliegt weitreichenden Veränderungen. Parallel zur demokratischen Transition vollzog sich ein radikaler wirtschaftspolitischer Wandel zugunsten eines Paradigmas, das in Brasilien als neoliberal bezeichnet wird. Dieses neue Paradigma war nur bedingt mit gewachsenen Strukturen vereinbar.

Die Studie zeigt, wie spezifische gesellschaftliche und wirtschaftliche Pfadabhängigkeiten die Nachhaltigkeit politischer Paradigmenwandel erschweren und eine Rückorientierung auf langfristig institutionalisierte Muster ermöglichen. Aktuell konkurrieren verschiedene Paradigmen im polit-ökonomischen Diskurs Brasiliens und sind zum zentralen Thema von Wahlkampf und Parteienwettbewerb geworden. Ob ein dabei kurzfristig erfolgreiches Paradigma auch dauerhaft die brasilianische Wirtschaftspolitik prägen kann, wird davon abhängen, inwieweit es mit bestehenden sozioökonomischen Konstellationen harmoniert.
