The concept of trauma has become an integral part of our everyday language. While medicine, psychology, and brain research describe the damage of trauma with ever-increasing accuracy, it is the arts which are charged with conveying the experience of trauma to society. This presents completely new challenges, since trauma is however generally considered unrepresentable.This volume documents a close cooperation by several disciplines, and for the first time follows in the wake of trauma, in visual media and cultural practices in particular.
