Summary

Today, democratic dynamics give individuals the opportunity to experiment with alternative forms of political power that bypass and subvert the electoral process. Against the backdrop of a review of the forms of public opinion formation from the beginnings of media culture theories to the revolution of new communication technologies, this book deals with the “presentative public sphere” that has taken over the public sphere today. It seeks to find the narrow path to saving deliberative politics in a world whose models of socialization and communication are cornering this understanding of politics.
