Summary

Die kulturelle Perspektive, die im Kontext der Nachhaltigkeitsdebatte bislang (von wenigen Ausnahmen abgesehen) höchstens als Beiwerk der sozialen Nachhaltigkeit Eingang in den politischen Diskurs fand, etabliert sich nach und nach als eigenständige Dimension der Nachhaltigkeit. Begleitet wird der aufkommende politische Diskurs von einer zunehmenden Intensivierung der wissenschaftlichen Debatte. Der »Kultivierung« der Nachhaltigkeit wird die »Vernachhaltigung« der Kultur gegenübergestellt. Gefragt wird vor allem nach den kulturellen Voraussetzungen und Bedingungen, um den Entwicklungspfad »Nachhaltige Entwicklung« beschreiten zu können. In diesem Band wird »kulturelle Nachhaltigkeit« auf interdisziplinäre und internationale Weise zum Gegenstand der Analyse gemacht, konzeptionell wie exemplarisch. Die Autor/innen untersuchen das facettenreiche Spektrum der Interdependenzen von Kultur und Nachhaltigkeit aus unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln, wagen aber auch eine (disziplinübergreifende) »Gesamtschau«. Auf dieser Basis wird »kulturelle Nachhaltigkeit« im Spannungsfeld von kulturellem Erbe, Globalisierung und technischem Wandel thematisiert.
