Summary

In der aktuellen Debatte zur Erreichung der Nachhaltigen Entwicklungsziele bis 2030 spielen ausländische Direktinvestitionen (ADI) in Sub-Sahara Afrika eine tragende Rolle. Lückenhafte und zumeist veraltete Zahlungsbilanzstatistiken von ADI bieten dabei allerdings nur einen vagen Bezugspunkt. Verlässliche Aussagen über verschiedene Formen, Geschäftsdynamiken und Entwicklungseffekte von ADI lassen sich allerdings anhand dieser Statistiken nicht treffen. Dieses Buch schließt diese Lücke.

Auf Basis eines Datensatzes von über 2.000 ausländischen Niederlassungen in Sub-Sahara-Afrika zeigt es auf, welche ADI bereits an der wirtschaftlichen Dynamik dieser Weltregion partizipieren und welche Strategien (Branche, Markteintritt, strategische Allianzen etc.) zu unternehmerischen Erfolg führen. Geschäftserfolg und Entwicklungsbeitrag müssen dabei nicht im Widerspruch zueinanderstehen, sondern können sich gegenseitig verstärken.
