Caribbean literature undermines the narrative of the knowing (white, colonial) subject. Natasha Ueckmann's literary aesthetic synopsis of current Franco- and Hispano-Caribbean post-plantation literature serves to illuminate history, culture, and identity concepts in societies that share the legacy of abduction and enslavement as well as creolization as a common historical experience. The aim of the study is the post-colonial rewriting of globalization history by enlisting of Caribbean literature and culture (theory). The study was awarded the Elise Richter Research Award from the German Association of Romanists.
