Summary

Many forms of the comic cannot be captured by the currently leading theories of comic analysis. Above all, there is a lack of a comprehensive and uniform inventory of terms. Benjamin Eisenberg presents this in the form of an innovative approach, assembling established concepts of humor research and introducing new terms into the discourse. The efficiency of this approach, which is based on linguistic theory, is demonstrated using selected text sequences from wellknown German comedians.
