Summary

The fascination with myth continues. Out of their divergent needs for stabilization of systems of order on the one hand and new meaningfulness on the other hand, globalization and late capitalism have challenged innovative disciplinary viewpoints and perspectives on myth. The contemporary Renaissance of myth is characterized by a variety of forms. Myths are interconnected with the arts as well as everyday life, politics, history, and the sciences. The contributions to this volume respond to these changes, which open up to new configurations of myth in different forms of representation and subject a variety of mytho-theoretical rudiments to negotiation.
