Summary

How can people who arrive in Germany fleeing from war, persecution, hunger and economic need exercise their right to education and participation in society? What are the suitable formats for cultural education that are attentive to the realities of refugees while also promoting integration and solidarity? The essays in this volume consider such questions and show that cultural education is a field in which many ambitious projects with refugees are being realized. The current refugee situation offers possibilities for a change in cultural and educational institutions which is sensitive to power and difference, and creates opportunities for the revision of established routine practices.
