There are numerous forms of nature in the urban space which are perceived and evaluated differently. Based on this idea, Katharina Winter examines how different concepts of nature influence the treatment of temporary uses of urban brownfield land: What kind of nature is referred to when different agents discuss decisions on land use? What is the desirable kind of nature - and to whom is it desirable? Through the example of three case studies from Berlin – a communal garden, a campsite, and a trailer park – the bandwidth and influence of judgments, meanings, and images of nature are elaborated.
