Summary

Digitalisation has not only become part of our everyday lives and science, but it has also fundamentally changed musical life: aesthetically and economically, and in production, reception and our musical environment; and not only in pop music, but also in so-called classical music.This book brings together contributions from the sociology of music on these changes brought about by digitalisation and the internet: changes in aesthetics and valuation, in the interplay of humans and technology, in the economics of supply, demand and remuneration, in aspects of music mediation and performance, and in terms of performance and life in practice.
