Summary

This volume brings together contributions that were produced as part of SINNE | SINN in Kiel in October 2022. The interest was in testing post-hermeneutic approaches to musicological questions, especially with regard to contemporary music. Within historical musicology as a traditionally analytical-hermeneutic »score science«, post-hermeneutics raises questions: Can its supposedly one-sided methodology be expanded through post-hermeneutic concepts? Or must the legitimate criticism of its orientation towards meaning remain ineffective? Scholars from the fields of philosophy, systematic and historical musicology as well as artists were invited to discuss this issue.
