Warum bleibt die demokratische zivile Kontrolle des Militärs im post-Suharto-Indonesien fragil? Der Autor zeigt, dass ihre Tragfähigkeit nicht nur von formalen Institutionen, sondern auch vom Kohäsionsgrad politischer Eliten abhängt. Anhand der indonesischen Transformation nach dem Autoritarismus erklärt die Studie, warum demokratische Konsolidierung ungleich verläuft und warum zivil-militärische Beziehungen umkämpft bleiben.
