Zusammenfassung

Das Impeachment gegen die südkoreanische Präsidentin Park Geunhye im Jahr 2017 sowie die vorangegangene Protestbewegung, die insbesondere aufgrund ihrer Länge, Größe und weitgehenden Gewaltfreiheit auch internationale Aufmerksamkeit hervorrief, gab Anlass zu einer neuen Betrachtung der südkoreanischen Demokratie.Mit der Analyse der traditionellen Interpretation des Präsidentenamtes, der Rolle der südkoreanischen Gerichtshöfe im Kontext des Impeachments, der Protestbewegung im Lichte bestehender sozio-ökonomischer Strukturen und der Motivationen der Protestierenden sowie mit einer Einordnung des Impeachments in den Kontext der Demokratisierungsforschung leistet der Sammelband einen Beitrag zu diesem Diskurs.
