When reflecting the logic of care, the challenges inherent to healthcare need to be considered: The human body is complex, healthcare is full of unpredictable variables, and care practices have boundaries. While healthcare workers are acting in a commercial and economic environment, they attempt to still maintain holistic care, act according to their own moral position, and keep their own professionalism while dealing with uncertain responsibility. Pei-Yi Liu describes care conflicts and ethical tensions emerging in the context of diabetes care and nursing care settings in Germany. Her analysis connects the theoretical understanding of disease management and its practical implementation.
