Zusammenfassung

Die gegenwärtige Diskussion um die gesellschaftliche Rolle der Wissenschaft ist geprägt von unterschiedlichen, manchmal sich auch widersprechenden Erwartungen. Die stärkere Einbindung der Wissenschaft in den gesellschaftlichen Kontext und die Forderung nach praktischer Relevanz sind Ausdruck der gewandelten gesellschaftlichen Funktion der Wissenschaft und gleichzeitig Ausgangspunkt der wissenschaftlichen Reflexion über ihr Verhältnis zur Gesellschaft. Eine Folge dieser Entwicklung ist die Herausbildung einer neuen Form der Wissenschaftsregulierung: Wissenspolitik. Wissenspolitik stellt heute ein neues Politikfeld dar, bei dem es um die Rolle der Wissenschaft in der Gesellschaft, um neue Regeln der Wissensanwendung und um die Sanktion eines möglichen Wissensmissbrauchs geht. Den damit verbundenen Veränderungen der Wissenschaftsproduktion wird in diesem Band auf drei Ebenen nachgegangen. Auf der Ebene der gesellschaftlichen Integration in das System der politischen Regulierung (Wissenspolitik), auf der Ebene der Steuerung der Wissenschaft (Governance) und auf der Ebene neuer Forschungsfelder und des Entstehens einer problem-orientierten, transdisziplinären Forschung.
