Zusammenfassung

Fünfzehn Jahre nach dem umstrittenen EU-Beitritt Rumäniens zieht eine Reihe von Persönlichkeiten, die die Ereignisse damals hautnah miterlebt haben, Bilanz. Ihre im Allgemeinen nüchterne Analyse wurde in jüngster Zeit durch Putins Ukraine Krieg und den wieder aufgeflammten Streit über die Bedeutung von „Einflusssphären“ im 21. Jahrhundert sehr aktuell. Mit der Diskussion um die jeweilige Rolle von NATO und EU enthält dieses Buch wichtige Aussagen über den schwierigen (und potenziell spielverändernden) Kompromiss zwischen schnellem, entschlossenem Handeln und der Notwendigkeit einer gründlichen Vorbereitung. Rumänien hat „den letzten Zug“ erwischt. Vielleicht muss eine neue Fahrtrichtung her.
