Seit Ende der 1990er Jahre ist Russland zu einem wichtigen Zielland für Migranten aus Zentralasien geworden.
Diese empirische Studie transnationaler (Arbeits-) Migration aus Kirgisistan, Tadschikistan und Usbekistan nach Russland untersucht Veränderungen innerhalb der Verwandtschaftsbeziehungen von Migranten. Die Migranten und Ihre Familien werden sowohl im Herkunfts- als auch im Zielland systematisch analysiert.
