Zusammenfassung

[Aging Today. Challenges and Opportunities] It is impossible to ignore that the number of old and very old people in our society is increasing. The resulting changes are sketched in the first part from the following perspectives: demographic, biological, medical, nursing, psychological, sociological and social. The second part reflects on aging from a biblical perspective, including its impact in history, such as in the concept of »memento mori«. From there, in the third part, action-oriented suggestions are drafted as examples – specifically on the current topics of retirement, living in old age, dealing with dementia patients, and dying in old age. The conclusion is framed by an outlook: aging from the perspective of the Gospel – challenges and opportunities.
