Zusammenfassung

Die Entwicklung Konvergenter Technologie auf der Basis von Nanotechnologie ist gegenwärtig ein umfassendes technologisches Leitbild. Konvergente Technologie könnte, vor allem wegen ihrer Synergieeffekte, zu einer Hauptantriebskraft in unserer globalisierten Welt werden, sei es in der Biotechnologie oder in der Informatik, sei es in der Material- oder Kognitionswissenschaft, um nur einige zu nennen. Ergänzend zur technischen Seite ist es wichtig, die möglichen ethischen Herausforderungen Konvergenter Technologie zu erforschen und zu untersuchen, wie unterschiedliche Staaten und internationale Institutionen diese Herausforderungen wahrnehmen und beantworten. Der Umstand, dass Technologieentwicklung und der Wandel der Ökonomie, gesellschaftlicher Institutionen, der Kultur und des Alltags sich wechselseitig beeinflussen, erfordert die integrative Untersuchung möglicher Alternativen. Dieses Buch bietet einen technisch, ethisch und gesellschaftlich orientierten Überblick über Konvergente Technologie mit dem Schwerpunkt Nanotechnologie. Es basiert auf einem internationalen Workshop, der im Dezember 2005 in Budapest stattfand.
