Zusammenfassung
Emotionen gelten seit jeher als wichtiges Element der politischen Kommunikation. Neuere Forschungen belegen die Bedeutung von Emotionen für die individuelle Informationsverarbeitung und die politische Urteilsbildung. Strategisch eingesetzt werden Emotionen so zu einem Instrument der Beeinflussung von Menschen. Basierend auf Inhaltsanalysen von TV-Nachrichten und politischen Talkshows in Deutschland zeigt das Buch, mit welchen Emotionen das Fernsehen Politikerinnen und Politiker dargestellt und welche Techniken eingesetzt werden, um beim Zuschauer Emotionen zu erzeugen. Mit Hilfe von Experimenten wird vor dem Hintergrund der Theorie der emotionalen Ansteckung dem Einfluss von emotional dargestellten Politikerinnen und Politikern auf politische Einstellungen nachgegangen.
