The Freiburger Romanistische Arbeiten is the most important series of publications for Romance studies in Freiburg. It publishes projects funded by the Dr Jürgen and Irmgard Ulderup Foundation, including outstanding postgraduate dissertations. These research studies from the fields of linguistics, literary studies and cultural studies fulfil the series’ goal of publishing works based on both intermedia and interdisciplinary research, as well as those that address up-to-date, contemporary issues. Its volumes are mostly published in German, but also in French, Italian, Spanish and English.

The series of publications entitled "Gesellschaftsanalyse. Ungleichheit und soziale Gerechtigkeit | Social Analysis. Inequality and Social Justice" is dedicated to analysing the structures and dynamics of market-oriented societies. It therefore focuses on diverse manifestations of social injustice as well as questions of social justice. In addition to theoretical essays, the series includes empirical studies (of either a quantitative, qualitative or methodologically integrative nature) which, for example, highlight the birth of and the institutions in contemporary societies or examine their members’ objective situations and subjective sensitivities by either focusing on one country or by comparing two or more different ones. This interdisciplinary and internationally oriented series welcomes submissions of monographs and anthologies written in either German or English.

This interdisciplinary series of publications addresses the vast array of subjects related to education, such as research into schools and universities, inequality in education, economics, psychology, ethics, teaching theory, educational sociology and the sociology of knowledge. Its volumes will appeal to both academics and practitioners from the field of education. The series welcomes contributions with varying approaches, from a variety of fields and written in different languages.

For some years now the German publishers Nomos and C.H.Beck have joined forces with Oxford-based Hart Publishing to publish a series of legal books in English under the common brand “BECK | HART | NOMOS”. The main focus of the joint programme are article-by-article commentaries on International and European law. Handbooks, textbooks and reports complement the portfolio. The topics addressed are European and International Business Law, Foreign and International Criminal Law, International Arbitration and Litigation, as well as various fields of European Union Law, such as Competition Law, the New European General Data Protection Regulation, Intellectual Property Law, Banking Law, Distribution Law, Transport Law and the EEA Agreement.

This series addresses social, political and economic issues of South Asia, set in the context of the historical and cultural space, religions and identities of the region, and ensconced in the heritage and memories that underpin them all. The series conflates both theory and area. It welcomes scholarship on a single country or part of a country, comparative studies looking at single problems across the region and research on global issues with significance for South Asia. The series aims at the academia, politics, media and the general public interested in issues of development, security, trade or tourism that bring South Asia – from Afghanistan to the Maldives – to the attention of the world.
