Nomos Publishing provides an OAI-PMH interface (Open Archives Initiative – Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) for customers and partners who wish to retrieve bibliographic metadata in a structured and automated manner. What is OAI-PMH?
OAI-PMH is an internationally established standard for the structured exchange of metadata over the internet. The protocol is widely used by libraries, repositories, discovery services, and aggregators to regularly and automatically harvest metadata.
What does the interface offer?
Authorized user of the Nomos OAI-PMH interface can:
- Automatically harvest bibliographic metadata
- Perform regular incremental updates (e.g., based on date of last modification)
- Selectively harvest defined data sets (“sets”)
- Retrieve metadata in standardized formats
- Synchronize their own catalogs, discovery systems, or repositories
The interface supports all OAI-PMH protocol operations, including Identify, ListRecords, ListIdentifiers, GetRecord, ListSets, and ListMetadataFormats.
Metadata is delivered in XML format and complies with established metadata standards. The following formats are available: OAI-DC, JATS, BITS, and ONIX.
