Summary
This volume demonstrates that a richer notion of spatiotemporal organization in the arts and beyond can allow contouring, especially in the interaction of different disciplines. Central to this is the concept of rhythm, which is meaningful for various artistic disciplines as well as history and cultural studies. The contributions follow up on the related concepts of balance and of meter, whereupon they formulate further theoretical perspectives which are a desideratum even in musicology.
