Initiated by the Montag Foundation Urbane Räume (English: Urban Spaces) and the corporation GAG Immobilien, a project was initiated in Cologne's district of Kalk North which stands apart from the usual forms of neighborhood management: the KALKschmiede*. The methods developed over about three and a half years of the project's duration along with the knowledge gained can fertilize and revitalize the discourse on the future of district management. This volume presents the project and lets both partners and stakeholders have their say as experienced urban development experts, situating the KALKschmiede* in the context of current issues on the future of urban development and addressing fundamental problems of neighborhood management.
