Wie kann der Flüchtlingsschutz mit der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit verknüpft und im globalen Süden implementiert werden? Dies ist die Leitfrage des Buches. Internationale Trends zeigen, dass der globale Süden zunehmend von erzwungener Migration betroffen ist. Durch den Entwicklungsstand der Länder und die Tendenz zu Langzeitsituationen wird die Verbindung von Flüchtlingsschutz und Entwicklungszusammenarbeit wichtiger. Es wird angenommen, dass diese Verbindung auf Kriterien der Nachhaltigkeit, Effizienz und Geschlechtersensibilität basiert. Durch den Theorie-Praxis-Nexus und Mehrmethodenansatz mit Feldstudien in einer Flüchtlingssiedlung in Uganda erarbeitet die Autorin Merkmale, die unabdingbar für die entwicklungsorientierte Flüchtlingsarbeit sind. Die Langzeitstudie der Flüchtlingssiedlung gibt Einblicke in die multisektoralen Programme. Durch die kritischen Analysen der historischen und aktuellen Trends sowie der Feldforschung werden Komplexitäten und Herausforderungen dargelegt.
