The fifth, fully updated edition of this textbook provides an overview and presents the central controversies in social science research on right-wing extremism. It covers the history of right-wing extremism, the characteristics of its manifestations such as parties, movements, media and music, and formulates an overall assessment of contemporary right-wing extremism. In addition, explanatory approaches are discussed in the context of extremism theory and ‘extremism of the centre’, authoritarianism, socialisa-tion and gender, as well as youth protest theory and social movement or social disintegration theory.
