Germany is becoming more culturally and religiously plural. Since the beginning of the immigration and refugee debate, however, there have been those who have vehemently claimed that the country's anchoring in Christian-Western culture is in danger. How should the opportunities and limits of interreligious and intercultural understanding and co-operation be assessed in this context? With a sound background in history, philosophy and theology, Birgit Rommelspacher's (1945-2015) sociological study investigates the meaning of religion for people living in a secular and religiously-diverse society.
