Summary

Hamas' latest terrorist attack on Israel has brought the trauma of the Holocaust back into the focus of global politics. Philosophy after Auschwitz formulates criteria of moral and political responsibility for the reorientation of Israel's right to exist and Palestinian self-determination. The framework is provided by the analysis of historical experience, which affirms human rights in conflict with Nazism, Stalinism and their successors. In addition, assessing the Middle East Conflict concerns the current key question of how, in view of the experiences of the Shoah and Nakba, Israeli-Palestinian coexistence is possible within a national and international framework, not only in terms of commemoration but also in terms of realpolitik.
