Summary
This sociological introduction approaches the issues of gender and migration from an intersectional perspective that emphasizes the link between gender conditions and migration processes. In a systematic and didactically processed form, Helma Lutz and Anna Amelina present current gender-sociological, intersectional and transnational theories, taking the example of the research areas of transnational families, care work and citizenship to illuminate them. The book addresses students and teachers of sociological BA and MA study courses in the fields of gender studies, migration, diversity, transnationality, and social injustice. Movies and documentaries are presented in connection with each chapter; these serve to visualize topics and research fields – supplemented by exercises in the form of questions that enable readers to examine themselves as well as encourage seminar debates.
