The term "claim" has been celebrating its revival in discourses about the theory, practices and politics of urban development: In view of the dynamics of the economy and politics of late modernism, this is all about the availability and self-determined use of urban space and (life)time. This discourse also includes "creating your own" urban space; "urban development from the roots" is to define tomorrow's open space in the cities. After the euphoric planning of the 1950/60s the focus already turned to "other" players of production and the use of urban space. This book focuses on the comparative observation of past and current theories about claiming urban leisure space in different subject areas.
