Summary

With his study, Volker Wehdeking succeeds in revitalizing the last five years in contemporary German literature since the great anniversary of the Berlin Wall in 2020 with current perspectives. While the thirtieth anniversary of 1989 was commemorated in 2020 with the iconic "Dance on the Wall", another five-year period in the fall of 2024 focuses on the reverberations of this anniversary. The question of what remains reveals a change of mood. In the case of Durs Grünbein, Kerstin Hensel and Lutz Seiler, three important variants are evident in their iconic images, which the author addresses. The cultural memory in the 'reverberation' is made clear in the turning point novels of Maxim Leo, Julia Franck and Bernhard Schlink as well as films by Petzold, Schwochow and Leander Haußmann.
