Mit ihrer Analyse von Nachhaltigkeitsdiskursen in ausgewählten europäischen Staaten, stellen sieben europäische Wissenschaftler die Frage, ob es in Europa ein gemeinsames Verständnis von Nachhaltiger Entwicklung gibt und ob Nachhaltige Entwicklung ein, wenn nicht sogar das die Integration fördernde Politikfeld der nächsten Jahre ist. Der Begriff Nachhaltige Entwicklung wird für eine Vielzahl an Begebenheiten benutzt und hat verschiedene Bedeutungen. In diesem Sammelband gehen die Autoren für ihre Analyse der Governance-Strukturen und Akteure im Bereich der Nachhaltigen Entwicklung in Deutschland, Frankreich, Italien, Ungarn, Polen, Norwegen, Schweden sowie der EU als solche von einem integrativen Konzept aus (inter-generational, inter-territorial und inter-sektoral).
