Summary

This book provides an insight into the work of the Goethe-Institut since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. It presents a life story from six locations, driven by the desire to promote international understanding through culture. In the more than thirty years since the fall of the Wall, the work of the Goethe-Institut has been shaped by the hope of contributing to the creation of a liberal world: a democratic world based on the Charter of Human Rights and granting freedom to the arts and literature.
