Summary

Scenographic draft specifications offer compositional and behavioral guidelines for interpretation and administration in the social field. Precisely because the scenographic draft is divorced from the functional context of things and can direct itself toward the utopian, it offers up multiple interpretations and its application becomes the touchstone of freedom. But what freedom does this staging in the social field offer, when it voluntarily bows to constraints on practice and action, and a corresponding politics which are considered to be without alternative? »Staging Politics« looks into the power of the respective strategies and the power of aesthetic seduction. From various disciplinary directions, the contributions illuminate stagings which present themselves as »politics«, but only reveal the simulation of genuine political action.
