This cross-disciplinary collection, a project by the Chimaera Research Group for Human-Animal Studies, is the first German-language publication to dedicate itself to the diverse questions around animal agency and spheres of influence. Human-Animal Studies thus occupy a void in the previous research around the central concept of agency, which is on the agenda of the most diverse disciplines. In the process, controversially debated approaches that transcend anthropocentrism, such as actor-network theory and the new materialism, are for the first time focused explicitly on animal actors.
