The view that there must be only two sexes »for real« stubbornly persists. This heteronormative gender binary is sustained both by science and by visual representations of gender. As objections to such hegemonic knowledge formations, Josh, Hoenes discusses the queer/trans* photographs by Del La Grace Volcano and Loren Cameron and the movie Boys Don't Cry from a transdisciplinary perspective: What potential do cultural and artistic works offer to render gender formations of trans* people more imaginable and livable?
