Summary

The volume Kirchliche Schriften from the Historisch-Kritische Ausgabe der Werke Jeremias Gotthelfs (i.e. Albert Bitzius) contains groups of texts related to his training as a theologian and the offices of vicar and pastor. Previously unpublished texts include lecture notes, excerpts and exegetical studies that Bitzius wrote primarily during his time as a vicar.The topics he dealt with also include the position of the pastor in the new liberal state of the Regeneration period. The chronicle of Lützelflüh with its impressive prologue on the historical world situation follows a commission from the parish to the pastor, who was appointed chronicler.
