Summary

Die Untersuchung ist eine theoriegeleitete, empirische Analyse der russischen Politik gegenüber der Ukraine während der Präsidentschaft Wladimir Putins. Es ist die erste ausführliche Studie, welche die Hauptziele und Strategien der russischen Außenpolitik insgesamt, vor allem aber mit Schwerpunkt auf die Ukraine untersucht. Das Buch behandelt die aktuellen Probleme der Beziehungen Russlands zur EU und zur NATO und gibt auch einen Überblick über deren historische Wurzeln. Die wirtschaftliche und die sicherheitspolitische Ebene stehen im Fokus der Analyse. Der theoretische Ansatz der Studie ist originell: Es handelt sich um eine Vergleichsanalyse der russischen Politik gegenüber der Ukraine durch das Prisma des Realismus und Konstruktivismus im Rahmen der "dritten Debatte". Der Band leistet einen wichtigen Beitrag zum Verständnis der russischen Außenpolitik gegenüber der Ukraine und deren Hintegrund, Ziele und Dynamiken. Von besonderem Interesse ist er für Studierende und Wissenschaftler, die sich mit den russisch-westlichen Beziehungen beschäftigen.
