Summary
The Magazine of Cultural Studies serves as a critical medium for debates about "culture", cultural studies and their methodical processes. On the basis of the international status of research, cultural phenomena are examined both empirically concisely as well as theoretically advanced. It also reflects the most recent interactions of humanities and natural sciences. This issue traces the monstrous iconography of capitalism. The contributions explore its history and the scenarios of its depiction as well as its discursive and ideological functions, making monsters readable as problem characters by means of which the forms of life and knowledge of capitalist conditions may be questioned. The debate section sounds out the political potential of current cultural studies and poses the question of a "socio-political turn".
