The relation between social criticism and social control has hardly been given attention in the social sciences until now. However, the tacit claim of a dedicated social philosophy – to improve social conditions – can only be implemented through purposeful intentions for change, particularly in the arrangements of social control. How might these look? Thilo Hagendorff responds to this. His study suggests steps by which to modernize the methodological apparatus of social criticism and increase efficiency for critical social discourses.
