In Sport, the categories of gender, ethnicity and disability are of particular significance. For instance, there is no other area of modern society with such an obvious and seemingly legitimate segregation in terms of gender and disability. Racism also remains a big issue in sport: although there is no longer a 'color line', ethno-national origin is still the primary characteristic used to form teams. This volume undertakes a comparative analysis of the social categories of gender, race and disability and reveals their constitutive logics and interactions in the context of sport.
