[Remaining Protestant. Living Responsibly in a Fractured Society] In the processes of late modern societies to negotiate how to live amidst growing diversity and conflicting points of view, it is becoming increasingly difficult for churches to make their Christian convictions heard and provide orientation. This is also due to tendencies in theology and the church to file down the rough edges in the interest of maximising connectivity and acceptance. In contrast, the essays in this volume are based on the conviction that Protestant ethics must perceive and judge the questions and problems of our time in the light of the biblical testimony of Jesus Christ. Remaining Protestant then means being guided in questions of life and the environment, marriage and family, war and flight by the confidence that Christian action under the promise and claim of the Word of God is not in vain.
