Summary

Will death be optional in the future? For transhumanism, the decisive intervention in our mortality is only a matter of time. To get to the bottom of this claim, the author summarises scientific efforts to alter our mortality and also develops transhumanist positions on the basis of canonical primary texts. Against the background of these investigations, four arguments for a fundamental critique can be constructed on the basis of Heidegger's philosophy. In conclusion, this interpretation of Heidegger is able to provide the desired justification for why mortality opens up the most essential horizon of meaning for human beings.
