Migration and demographic change processes are having a significant impact on the social and political discourse in Germany. In this context, Muslims and their commitment to social integration are frequently seen as being problematic. They are often portrayed as objects rather than as an integral part of society or even as individuals. The author addresses this issue. Based on ethnographic research, this book draws attention to those people living in the eastern parts of Germany, their relationship to religion, normative frameworks, and religious practices. The purpose of this publication is to enrich the debates, broadening their perspectives and, at best, contribute to a more inclusive and solid approach in dealing with future societal challenges.
