The sixth volume of the Thuringian Parson’s Book offers biographical data on all the parsons of the former Duchy of Sachsen-Altenburg from the Reformation to the year 1918. Following the concept of the preceding volumes, in addition to the life data vol. 6 offers numerous details on the clergymen’s family relations and other achievements. The full documentation of the sources used allows the user to verify the given data, hence the book may serve as a useful basis for further studies in regional church history or in social and family history. The intricate history of the duchy is presented in an introductory survey by Ernst Koch. The data are easily accessible by way of lists of parish posts for each location as well as indices of people and places.
