Summary

Der Sammelband zielt auf eine breit gefächerte Diskussion der Entwicklung und des Wandels der Öffentlichkeitsformen in der türkischen Gesellschaft. Der Begriff Öffentlichkeit verweist auf die verschiedenen gesellschaftlichen Interaktionsräume wie die Medien, städtische Räume, politische Parteien und soziale Bewegungen etc. Diese öffentlichen Räume gestalten sich unter Wirkung vielfältiger Machtformen ökonomischer, politischer und kultureller Art. Die Kollektivitäten und Subjektivitäten (re)produzieren sich in diesen Öffentlichkeiten, welche in der modernen kapitalistischen Gesellschaft sich pluralisieren und zu intensiven Kampffeldern verwandeln. Die Diskussionen über die Öffentlichkeit eröffnen auf der anderen Seite neue kritische Perspektiven gegenüber dem liberal-kapitalistischen System und den daraus abgeleiteten Demokratievorstellungen. Vor diesem Hintergrund zielt der Band darauf ab, den Entwicklungsprozess der Öffentlichkeit in politischen, räumlich-sozialen und staatlichen Dimensionen in der Türkei seit den 80er Jahren in den Blick zu nehmen. Die Beiträge gehen von verschiedenen begrifflich-analytischen Ansätzen zur Behandlung und Analyse des Phänomens Öffentlichkeit aus und versuchen mittels Analyse von Entwicklungsformen des Öffentlichen den vielschichtigen Wandel der türkischen Gesellschaft vor Augen zu führen.
