Zusammenfassung

Die Festschrift zum 85. Geburtstag von Georgina Herrmann umfasst 28 Beiträge. Entsprechend den Schwerpunkten von Georgina Hermanns wissenschaftlichem Werk konzentrieren sie sich auf Mesopotamien, sassanidische Reliefs und zentralasiatische Kulturen. Zahlreiche Studien untersuchen Elfenbein-Arbeiten aus Ugarit, Samaria, Hasanlu, Nimrud und anderen levantinischen, assyrischen und syrischen Stätten. Die Geschichte der fotografischen und zeichnerischen Dokumentation sassanidischer Felsreliefs durch Reisende und Gelehrte wird ebenso behandelt wie die Darstellung von Aphrodite/Venus auf sassanidischen Luxusgefäßen und die parthischen Münzen aus Merv in der Sammlung des Puschkin-Museums.

This festschrift, celebrating Georgina Herrmann’s 85th birthday, encompasses 28 contributions. In accordance with significant topics of Georgina Hermann’s scholarly devotion they focus on Mesopotamian studies, Sasanian reliefs and Central Asian cultures. Studies examine ivories from Ugarit, Samaria, Hasanlu, Nimrud and other Levantine, Assyrian and Syrian sites. The history of documenting Sasanian rock reliefs by travellers and scholars using photographs and drawings is dealt with as well as the illustration of Aphrodite/Venus on Sasanian luxury vessels and the Parthian coins from Merv held in the collection of the Pushkin Museum.
