Zusammenfassung

Obwohl die Angst vor Spoilern heute ein weltweites Phänomen darstellt, wurde sie bisher kaum erforscht. Dieser Band bringt erstmals Forschende aus unterschiedlichen Disziplinen zusammen, um das Konzept des Spoilers zu untersuchen. Schmälern Spoiler wirklich unsere Freude an Filmen, Büchern oder Spielen, und wie gehen verschiedene Fan-Communities mit dem Thema um? War Spoilern schon immer verpönt, und wie hat sich die Angst vor Spoilern auf die Art und Weise ausgewirkt, wie Medieninhalte produziert und vermarktet werden? Die Beitragenden dieses Bandes kommen aus der Film- und Literaturwissenschaft, den Game und Fan Studies sowie aus der empirischen Psychologie, und ihre Einsichten sind – Spoiler-Alarm! – mitunter sehr überraschend.
