Zusammenfassung

Eine neue Bewegung macht von sich reden: der Effektive Altruismus – die Kombination von Nächstenliebe und Effizienz. Weltverbesserer, die nicht bloß Herzblut und Empathie, sondern ebenso Vernunft und Evidenz großschreiben – immer mit dem Ziel des größten Nutzens für die größte Zahl. Die VertreterInnen stammen aus säkularen Milieus wie der Oxforder Philosophie oder dem Silicon Valley. Bisher fehlte eine religiöse Perspektive auf diese Bewegung. Was können Religionen vom Effektiven Altruismus lernen, wie können sie dazu beitragen, was müssen sie kritisieren? Der Band unternimmt eine erste ernsthafte Auseinandersetzung mit diesen Fragen und bietet neben diversen christlichen Beiträgen auch eine buddhistische und jüdisch-orthodoxe Perspektive.
